Why aren’t the Ravens being held acccountable?

If you have been following the Ray Rice fiasco, you know that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been taking the brunt of the flack over it. He is a big factor and he apologized for not doing more. However, the Baltimore Ravens have had little fallout from this–at least nationally. I wonder why? Each team has the power to discipline their players if they feel the league was too lenient. Just recently, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh reiterated their stance on the domestic abuse issue. The Ravens head coach is Jim’s brother John.

To my knowledge, the Ravens do not have a similar stance of the 49ers, which is too bad. I am surprised and a little disappointed that longtime GM Ozzie Newsome and Ravens upper management didn’t step in and suspend Ray Rice indefinitely because of this. They could have easily hit him with conduct detrimental to the team, which carried a maximum of 4 games.

I don’t think it’s fair to further criticize the NFL or Roger Goodell, who has since amended the domestic abuse policy, when the Ravens could have done more, but dropped the ball. Ravens fans, where are you? We know you disgustingly cheered him at training camp. Where are you now? You have voices. You should use them and urge your Ravens to do more than suspend Rice for 2 games. The worst thing you can do other than nothing, would be to cheer.

Edit: Ray Rice has since been released by the Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL.
