Class cards you can cheaply craft that will help a lot: Part one

If you are new to Hearthstone you might find yourself in a tough position as you try to build your deck and complete your daily quests. Getting your weekly free pack in Tavern Brawls is a must, but that’s only giving you 5 cards a week. Depending on what class you want to play, there are a few cards you can craft for cheap, that will help you out a lot. Let’s take a look.

All cards crafted are 40 arcane dust unless otherwise noted.

Druid- Naturalize: A 1 mana spell that destroys a minion but lets your opponent draw 2 cards.

Power of the Wild: One of the most versatile spells in the game, for 2 mana it either summons a 3/2 panther or buffs all your minions +1/+1.

Druid of the Claw: A base 4/4 minion, you choose either to add +2 health and Taunt or stay 4/4 with Charge. For 5 mana, pretty good versatility. Especially early in your card collecting.

Hunter- Explosive Trap: This should be a staple in every hunter’s deck. It’s a 2 mana Secet*. After it’s played, it is triggered when an enemy character attacks your hero and does 2 damage to all enemy characters. I can’t tell you how many games I’ve won because I had this up. Outside of a Pyroblast to your opponents face, this is probably the most satisfying way to win.

Freezing Trap: Freezing Trap is a little trickier. I usually like to wait until there is a nasty opponent on the board before I lay this down. It also depends if you are using a deck built around the Eaglehorn Bow or not.

Unleash the Hounds: The great equalizer- for each enemy minion, summon a 1/1 hound with Charge. You should probably pair this with the Timber Wolf or Raid Leader, once you get that.

Mage- Mana Wyrm: A 1/3 minion that gains +1 attack whenever you play a spell. Pretty solid card. Your opponent will usually make sure to take it out.

Sorcerer’s Apprentice: This little minion lowers the cost of all your spells by (1). It can be particularly devastating early on. You can play it on turn 2 (or turn 1 with the coin) and still cast as many 1 mana spells as you have in your hand.

Mirror Entity: This 3 mana Secret places a copy of the next minion your opponents plays directly on your side of the board. Savvy players will wait until they have a low cost minion to lay down. Others will walk right into the trap!

Paladin- Noble Sacrifice: This paladin Secret comes in handy to protect a minion, especially if there is a minion on the board who can take them out.

Argent Protector: A 2/2 minion with a Battlecry that places Divine Shield on a friendly minion. I can’t tell you how useful this card will be. The ability to bash another minion full in the face and have yours untouched is delightful.

Murloc Knight– Even if you are not playing murlocs, this card can help you out. It’s a 3/4 minion with a new Inspire** mechanic: summon a random murloc. Being able to summon new minions for mana is always a good thing.

Priest- Inner Fire: This 1 mana spell changes a minion’s attack to = it’s health. It can be used offensively to turn that heavy stamina tank into a juggernaut.

Thoughtsteal– One of the nastier spells in the game, for 3 mana copy 2 of your opponent’s cards and place them into your hand.

Velen’s Chosen: A Goblins vs Gnomes spell that buffs a minion with +2/+4 and +1 spell power. All for 3 mana. Just keep in mind buffs can be silenced!

This concludes part 1. Stay tuned for part 2: Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, and Warrior. Coming soon!

*Secret: A hunter, mage, or paladin spell that is triggered by a certain action. It will be dormant on your hero portrait until activated.

**Inspire: Use your hero power to enable a card with an Inspire on use ability.

Luckily I managed to get a lot of these cards in my first few packs when I started. I would definitely recommend Druid of the Claw – it’s just so good for any Druid deck you really need it
