Card of the week: Jeweled Scarab

Whether you are a new player, or a longtime Hearthstone player, this card needs to get in your deck! The Jeweled Scarab is a mighty good card for 2 mana.

Jeweled Scarab Reward

At it’s base, it is a 1/1 Beast with a Battlecry: Discover a 3 cost card. The Discover mechanic is new with the League of Explorers, as is this card. It lets you select 1 of 3 options. It’s definitely my favorite mechanic. It’s awesome for new players, who might not have a lot of cards. It’s even better for veteran players, (hunters) especially ones who might be playing a Battlecry deck.

The strategy: Is simple, play the card as soon as you can. Unless, you are waiting to use it with Brann Bronzebeard who just might trigger your Battlecry twice!

Cards that accent it: It has Battlecry and is a Beast minion, so there is that. I’m not going to go into the Beast synergy, but if you play a hunter or druid, you will know what to do with that. Here are a few I like:

  • Brann Bronzebeard: This is one of the first legendary minions you will get in the League of Explorers. You unlock him when you defeat the Temple of Orsis. As long as he is on the board he will trigger your Battlecries twice. That means 2 discoveries for Jeweled Scarab!
  • Abusive Sergeant: The 1/1 Scarab might be overlooked, all of a sudden, BAM! +2 attack!
  • Youthful Brewmaster: Nothing is better than throwing out a card with Battlecry, then picking it back up and putting it down again! Free cheese is the best cheese.
  • Hobgoblin: Gives +2/+2 when you play a 1-attack minion.
  • Raid Leader: Grants friendly minions +1 attack.
  • Ancient Brewmaster: Like the Youthful Brewmaster, just a little tougher.

Bonus play: If you happen to play a shaman, you might know about the Rumbling Elemental, which is also new with the League of Explorers. It is a 2/6 Shaman minion that deals out 2 damage to a random enemy when you play a minion with Battlecry. So there is one more interesting idea for you to think about.

How to acquire: The Jeweled Scarab is a reward for defeating Zinaar in the Temple of Orsis wing in the League of Explorers solo adventure.
