This week in Karazhan: The Opera

The Opera opened up in week 2 of One Night in Karazhan. 3 new bosses, 2 class challenges, and lots of shenanigans!

Opera

The first boss is Julianne. She starts out with Romulo on the board and is invincible when he is there. Lucky for us, he only has 2 health. Her hero power is to summon him for 4 mana if he isn’t there.

Julianne 1

Yeah. I crashed that party. While creative, this fight was super easy. Get a couple minions on board and it’s downhill from there.

Julianne def 1

Pompous Thespian Reward: This neutral minion is a 3/2 with Taunt. Not flashy, but decent.

Pompous Thespian 1

Onyx Bishop Reward: This 3/4 priest minion has a Battlecry: Summon a friendly minion that died this game. Not a bad card at all for 5 mana.

Onyx Bishop 1

Boss 2 is the Big Bad Wolf: His hero power is passive: Enemy minions cost (1) but are 1/1. A problem? Perhaps, but not if you have certain cards in your arsenal. Say, ones that get pumped up. Dropping Cairne on turn one was pretty cool, and when Baine came out, he did not get shrunk down to 1/1.

Big Bad Wolf 2

This was another fun mechanic to play with, but wasn’t all that challenging to win.

Big Bad def 2

Kindly Grandmother Reward: This 1/1 hunter minion is also a Beast, and a Deathrattle: Summon a 3/2 Big Bad Wolf. All for 2 mana. Not quite fantastic, but a pretty solid 2-drop.

Kindly Grandmother 2

Arcane Giant Reward: This 8/8 neutral minion costs (1) less for each spell you have played. I can think of a few decks this bad boy will fit nicely into.

Arcane Giant

The third and final boss of the Opera wing is: The Crone. There is another mechanic at play though.

Dorothee 3

You have to keep Dorothee alive, which turns out to be fairly easy. Any minion you place to her left gets Charge, to her right gets Taunt.

The Crone is down 3

Moat Lurker Reward: This 3/3 neutral minion has a Battlecry: Destroy a minion, and a Deathrattle: resummon it. Looks like it will fit in with Deathrattle decks, and especially good with Sylvanas.

Moat Lurker 3

Wicked Witchdoctor Reward: This shaman minion is a 3/4 with a condition: Whenever you cast a spell summon a random basic totem. Not super great, but not bad. I can see a couple decks this would fit into.

Wicked Witchdoctor 3

Swashburglar Unlocked: This rogue minion is a 1/1 with a Battlecry: Add a random class spell to your hand. A 1/1 minion and a spell added to your hand is pretty cool.

Swashbuckler Reward 3a

Barnes Unlocked: Barnes is a 3/4 Legendary minion with a Battlecry: Summon a 1/1 minion of a random minion from your deck. Not sure about this Legendary, but I’m sure people will get creative with it.

Barnes Reward 3b

Paladin and warlock class challenges get unlocked once you defeat the Opera wing.

Paladin and Warlock CC

Face off vs the Big Bad Wolf with a premade paladin deck. I can’t think of a better card to start out with than Justicar Trueheart. It doubles my hero power from 1 minion to 2 minions for the same mana cost.

Paladin CC

The deck they put together for this challenge makes it fairly easy, once you get a few minions down. Plenty of buff cards to go around.

Paladin CC def

Silvermoon Portal Reward: This 4 cost paladin spell buffs a minion for +2/+2 and summons a random 2-cost minion.

Silvermoon Portal Unlocked

For the warlock class challenge, you fight Julianne again with a premade warlock deck.

Warlock CC

It looks a little closer than it was. I did most of the damage to myself with warlock minions that did 3, or 5 damage to my own hero when summoned.

Warlock CC def

Kara Kazham! Reward: This 5 cost warlock spell summons a 1/1 Candle, a 2/2 broom, and a 3/3 Teapot. Pretty decent card if you are playing a deck that summons lots of low cost minions.

Kara Kazham! Reward

This ends the Opera wing of One Night in Karazhan. Hope you had fun. Stay tuned for wing 3 coming next week!
