The word is out that Cleveland Browns are trading away Carlos Hyde to the Jacksonville Jaguars. (per Adam Schefter) That news can only mean one thing: The Browns liked what they saw from Chubb, and are going to put him in full time. This is crazy. If Chubb is available in your league, go get him. Now!
Nick Chubb was a top running back when he was at Georgia. He was the next big thing, until he hurt is knee. He came back strong, but lost carries to a surging Sony Michel. The Browns were able to snag him late in the 2nd round, even though they had already signed Carlos Hyde to a pretty nice deal. Chubb hasn’t had many reps, but did some damage at Oakland to the tune of 105 yards, and 2 TDs on 3 carries. Basically, a 39 yard run, a 60+ yard run. He is very explosive. He hasn’t caught a pass yet, but I expect that to change.
While Chubb is not fully established, at worse, this is a starting running back becoming available basically at mid-season, which is huge. The sky is the limit for Chubb, who already proved he can be an explosive player. Can he do it week in and week out? If he can, he is going to be a huge lift to many teams, as he is currently owned in just 20% of ESPN leagues.
